A Little Bit About Babe Ruth Baseball
The Babe Ruth League baseball is named after the legendary baseball player George Herman “Babe” Ruth and originated in 1951 with the 13-15 age division. Senior Babe Ruth 16-19 age division started in 1966.
The first teams were in New Jersey, and over the years, the League expanded its reach and established leagues in communities all over the country.
Babe Ruth Baseball has increased steadily from its first 10-team league in Hamilton Township, New Jersey, to its present combined size of well over one million players on some 60,000+ teams in more than 11,000 leagues and over 1.9 million volunteers. The divisions: Cal Ripken Baseball (for ages 4-12), Babe Ruth Baseball 13-18, Babe Ruth Softball, Bambino Buddy Ball and Xtreme Fastpitch are successful due to the millions of volunteer hours spent every year. Every volunteer from the local league manager to the chairman of the 17-member International Board is dedicated to the betterment of youth, while at the same time, producing better baseball and softball players.

Cape Cod Senior Babe Ruth
The earliest beginnings of Cape Cod Senior Babe Ruth being formed was around the late 1970’s and its President was Leroy Marek. Leroy was really the Umpire-in-Chief and the President. He was the organizing force mostly responsible for the establishment of what we now know as Cape Cod Senior Babe Ruth.
Leroy deserves all the credit for calling meetings, electing officers, fund raising, picking an all-star team, and generally making CCSBR an official member in good standing with national Babe Ruth Headquarters.
Around the mid 1980’s Leroy stepped down as President and Charlie Horan was elected. Exact dates and times are mostly guesstimates. After the 2002 season Charlie stepped down as President and All-Star Manager.
One of Charlies lasting legacy was the idea of Team Cape Cod. New President Dan Proto helped the idea come to life and in 2003 Team Cape Cod was formed.
Between 2003 and 2022 TCC had unprecedented success participating in numerous Babe Ruth World Series throughout the country.
After the 2022 season, Dan Proto stepped down as TCC coach and as League President.
In 2023 Steve Porter was voted in as the 4th President of CCSBR.
