Lower Cape Gray brings home the Championship!!

After the first two games of the best of 3 series, it came down to a winner take all game 3.

Falmouth traveled down to Brewster to take on LC Gray in game 1. Nicholas Scolus of Falmouth was the story of the game. Scolus pitched a CG no hitter and the Falmouth offense was led by Case Briggs (2 hits and 3RBI’s) and Gavin McKeon (3 hits).

Due to logistical concerns it was decided games 2 and 3 (if necessary) would be played in a DH at Guv Fuller Field in Falmouth. LC Gray who has lived by its strong pitching depth all season was confidence heading into game 2. Logan Miller set the tone on the mound and at the plate for LC scattering 3 runs over 7 strong innings while also contributing 2 hits. Millers performance on the bump allowed LC Grays offense to finally find its rhythm. In addition to the 2 hits by Miller, LC Grays offense attack was led by James Breda (2 hits), Aidan Choukri (3 RBI’s) and Harry Cormier (triple, 2RBI’s). For Falmouth, Case Briggs stayed hot with another 2 hits.

Game 3 saw a pitchers duel between Sean Souza of Falmouth and Ryan O’Keefe of Lower Cape Gray. Both pitchers finished the game with 6 strikeouts and did a great job of keeping the opposing offenses off balance. LC Gray scored all 5 of their runs in the 3rd inning. Of the 10 batters who came to the plate during the big 3rd inning, 5 hit run scoring doubles. Falmouth was able to chip away at the 5 run deficit with 2 runs in the 4th and another 2 in the 6th. O’Keefe shut the door in the top of the 7th and LC Gray was able to secure the win on a ground ball fielded by Trevor Ryone (SS) who made the throw to Mason Tomlinson (1B) to end the game and secure the Championship.
